What is ESN?
Eastwest Somatics Network (ESN) is a professional organization for students and graduates of Eastwest Somatics and other somatic modalities with the purpose of furthering the professional growth of its members and promoting the future of somatic practices.
Our Mission
- Furthering the healing modalities of somatic movement education and therapy in relation to dance, creative arts, and human development.
- Furthering somatics principles in effective communication.
- Fostering the professional development of ESN members through stating standards for professional conduct in the practice of somatics.
- Establishing criteria for continuing education of somatic practitioners at Eastwest.
- Sponsoring conferences on somatics topics.
- Networking of members.
- Maintaining an archive of educational and research materials on somatics topics.
- Communicating with the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA), our certifying body. See: www.ismeta.org
Membership
ESN sets dues and conditions for membership. Membership dues are $35 per year for regular membership and $25 per year for students in 2009.
Leadership
The ESN Council elects officers every 3 years, and has at large regional representatives.
ESN's mentor is Sondra Fraleigh, founding director of Eastwest Somatics, and professor emeritus, State University of New York.
Continuing Education
ESN establishes criteria for continuing education of Eastwest Somatics graduates.
Ethics
ESN members uphold professional standards of ethical conduct.
ESN members review conditions of the workplace in their professional practices.
Networking
ESN remains alert to internet network possibilities, and maintains an internet bulletin for exchange on its website.
ESN posts case studies of its members, ESN conference programs, suggested readings, and other educational materials on its website.
ESN produces a membership Newsletter twice a year based on news submitted by members via email.
ESN posts somatics resources on its website and a list of certified practitioners of shin Somaticsâ
ISMETA
ISMETA is the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association, a certifying body for registered somatic movement educators, rsme, and therapists, rsmt.
ESN provides representative for ISMETA board meetings via conference call two times a year.
ESN members serve on ISMETA Committees
